Pete International Airport
Pete International Airport CD
Pete International Airport is a side project of Dandy Warhols’ Peter Holmstrom, named after a cool song on 1997’s Dandy Warhols Come Down. Pete International Airport delve deep into dark ‘n’ heavy psychedelic grooves with roots in early Pink Floyd (vocalist Jsun Adams sounds a lot like Syd Barrett), Pretty Things, and Velvet Underground’s ‘Venus in Furs’. Background feedback drones combine with busy ’60s guitar leads, though faster cuts such as ’21 Days’ are akin to Jesus and Mary Chain, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, first-LP Darker My Love, etc. This record brings back the druggy joys of the younger Dandys circa Dandys Rule OK? and Come Down. — Jack Rabid
