With influences like Sonic Youth and Japanese Breakfast, AVSE walks the line between urgent fuzzed out post-punk and upbeat indie rock. Frontwoman Kasey Heisler flexes a serious set of pipes, all the while holding it down with bouncy, groove-laden bass lines. Guitarist Patrick Porter provides the melodic crunch with a shoegaze-y depth, and drummer Chayse Schutter’s ultra-tight punchy rhythms round out the mix. “Fix Your Heart Or Die” will force you to contemplate your life and position in the world, while also making your blood rush with adrenaline.
