With influences like Sonic Youth and Japanese Breakfast, AVSE walks the line between urgent fuzzed out post-punk and upbeat indie rock. Frontwoman Kasey Heisler flexes a serious set of pipes, all the while holding it down with bouncy, groove-laden bass lines. Guitarist Patrick Porter provides the melodic crunch with a shoegaze-y depth, and drummer Chayse Schutter’s ultra-tight punchy rhythms round out the mix.
