Hex Records is a DIY indie/hardcore/punk label from Syracuse, NY who have been churning out hard-hitting records since the turn of the century. Their latest batch of releases are all stellar in different ways. Ed Gein return from the depths of adulthood to smash out 5 new hardcore/grindcore rippers, their first new material in 5 years. Bleak’s 2nd full length sees them on a more chaotic path of destruction, full of metallic twists and turns while retaining their sludgy underbelly. Toronto’s Godstopper return with an album of crushingly heavy riffs meets soothing vocals and bits of piano. And Psychic Teens return with a 5-track album of their unique blend of post-punk, goth, shoegaze, and noise rock – a strange and cold whirlwind that really stands out.
