The Natural Causes “Self Titled” LP is also recommended if you like your punk loud and aggressive, but still forward-thinking and adventurous. The Mind Dweller demo tape doesn’t skimp on the rock or the punk, taking the best parts of 70s hard rock and infusing it with hardcore energy, a la Annihilation Time. We’ve also restocked the last two albums from the post-punk weirdos in Whatever Brains: their 3rd LP from 2013 is a sonic rabbit-hole of jittery, nervous punk with hints of dark synth-pop, while their 4th LP from 2015 combines rhythmic complexity with big melodic hooks, lyrical sincerity, and overall musical nihilism.
