Today in 2000 my emo band EXCITEBIKE played the annual outdoor Corn Festival in Charlottesville, VA. Noise complaints and frozen fingers forced everyone inside for an impromptu house show. About a month later we toured and released our CD EP (available on Bandcamp) but this show features 2 songs we never properly recorded that I assumed were lost forever. Members later played in Gregor Samsa, The Silent Type, Olde Ghost, Ghastly City Sleep, etc. Big thanks to Mitchell West for filming this – If you’ve never seen me shirtless with a shaved head and piercings before, now’s your chance!

This album is the sound of sanity slipping through one’s fingers as they shake their troubles away... the band effortlessly jumps between electrifying bursts of energy and slow paced displays of distorted discontent
Mutant Scum are quite an anomaly that I’m appreciating for definitely not taking the expected path... if you’re going to focus on themes of slime and sewers and mutation having a slimy, oozing musical soundtrack would certainly be apropos.
