Читай Букварь is an electronic experimental hip-hop project of Moscow-based artist Ivan Bookwar. Music is recorded live using analog soviet synths (Polivox, Altair 231, Ritm-2) and soviet drum machines (Lel UDS, Rokton). Ivan runs the lo-fi micro label Bookwar Records, publishing Russian mental non-commercial music that transcends a myriad of genres, including trip hop, synth pop, post punk, electronic and industrial.
Musically, imagine bands like Charles Bronson or MK-Ultra with more of a noisy element akin to bands like Born Against or Heroin. All in all, it’s good stuff.
The overall nature of their sound is unhinged aggression at times - coming across as unpretentious freeform jams.
Powerful math-y technical hardcore with stumbling bursts of rage. Really well put together tape with lyrics and pics and graphics spanning the band's existence.
Boisterous, hard rocking metal and punk... read between the lines and it comes across like an environmental cautionary tale.
Preserving our water supply is a big fuckin' deal, so why not have some fun whilst raising awareness with some super tight metallic punk?
Slime themed mid-tempo metal punk dirges. Presentation and theme are excellent.
